About El Paso Outdoor Center

Founded 2026, the El Paso Outdoor Center was created in hopes of supporting El Paso’s incredible outdoor community. EPOC is focused on sharing information and resources with the community, to encourage safe, confident, low-impact adventures in the natural areas around us.

EPOC is motivated and guided by the certain core values:

  1. Skills Above Screens
To be safe and confident in the outdoors, developing your skills and gaining practical experience is a safer, more empowering option than relying on a screen or an app.
  2. Adventure As You Are
You are welcome in the outdoors. It doesn’t matter your shape or size, your background or identity, or the price tag on your shoes. Be safe, prepared, and respectful — but beyond that? Hike on, however you are.
  3. Purpose Over Convenience
Just because something is easy or convenient doesn’t mean that it’s right. We pick our actions based on what we believe in, and the world we want to live in, even if it’s harder, longer, or slower.

As EPOC begins and grows, I’m so incredibly grateful for all the encouragement, excitement, and support that has been coming in. The goal is to build and offer whatever support/resources the community needs most. Some long-term goals include a gear library to make family/group camping/hiking trips more affordable, wilderness first aid/responder (WFA/WFR) course offerings, and more. If you have ideas or interest in these or any other projects, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
